Y'all, I am seeing this one more and more (and from teachers!)
I know, I know. It's two short words; why not combine them, right?
But it's wrong! Wrong, I tell you!
Alot is not one word!
You wouldn't write alittle, would you? No, it needs that space between the words.
A lot.
As in a parking lot.
That space is your friend. Using it will help to make me just alittle bit less kray kray.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Too funny! I'm so glad I'm not the only one annoyed "a lot" by that! : )

Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. I try reallllllllllllll hard not to make the "a lot" mistake a lot. If I do it, it's because I'm lazy and didn't want to go back and fix it.
I love the pics from your trip. I'm so glad you were able to go and have so much fun.
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Pattie
Thanks, Pattie! We had a blast. Hope you are having a good summer as well!

I love that site! Maybe I need an alot for my classroom!
DeleteAnd here I thought I was in trouble for writing "y'all!" Uh-oh, was that exclamation mark correctly placed? I started writing "y'all" when I moved to TX 22 yrs ago. However I am careful about "a lot!" My students are always writing alot. Drives me crazy too!
ReplyDeleteYour exclamation mark was perfectly placed! I had to correct one of my student teachers on a lot during his semester with me. It's one of the errors that drives me alitte kray kray!
