I am anxious to get in my room and get it set up. It's the first time in 6 years I will be a regular classroom teacher, so I'm getting a bit nervous.
My favorite read-aloud is Charlotte's Web. I cry every time I read about Charlotte's death. And what a great lead, right? "Where's Papa going with that ax?" Love it!
My professional read is by Dr. Joyce Armstrong Carroll and Eddie Wilson, the project directors for Abydos Learning International, formerly known as New Jersey Writing Project in Texas. I am a gold level trainer for Abydos and this book is our bible.
Go check out Farley's blog and link up!
the rain was (is) wonderful... did you have to use the thunder vest? I am getting super nervous about my training!!! AHHHH so you had orange leaf AFTER LOU's... I am WAY JEALOUS NOW!!!! and one more thing... LOVE YA!!!
ReplyDeleteWe weren't home when the thunder hit, so poor Desi went without her Thundershirt and melatonin. She hid in the bathroom. We didn't go to Orange Leaf, too full, but it is on my mind!
DeleteLove ya more!
I love Charlotte's Web! I'd love to check out the Acts of Teaching Writing, I want to get new ideas to teaching narratives, opinion and response to informational text. I seem to have gotten in a rut.

Little Treasures
Acts is a great book with both theory and how-tos for writer's workshop. I love it!
DeleteFroYo sounds divine right now! I love Charlotte's Web, too. And, a new classroom. How fun! I hope you can get in there, soon. Good luck!

Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies
We Read, We Blog, We Teach
I actually teach in the same district as Farley and, in fact, was the TAG teacher at her school the last 2 years. This year I'll be teaching fourth grade language arts at another campus. I have my fingers crossed for more rain!
DeleteI love Charlotte's Web! When I was teaching 2nd grade, I convinced the kids to save their snack money and put it towards the $.95 Scholastic order so we all could have one! Seemed asking for a dollar for a book was too mauch to ask but saving 2 days of snack money was ok. I thought I was so clever :) And I cry too, pitiful. At least when I taught 2nd (in Kdg now) I could get a kid to read the sad parts!

I find that the kids all want a copy of the books I read aloud.
DeleteI LOVE NCIS and can watch reruns over and over and over again. :)
